True Table Read Studio

Every script deserves more than a mechanical readback.

NarrativeForge is designed to perform a screenplay as an ensemble sharing one dramatic moment. The objective is not louder text. It is a read that reveals rhythm, subtext, chemistry, and the places where the page still needs work.

Core workflow in development

Import

Begin with production structure intact.

FDX, Fountain, and professionally formatted screenplay imports are designed to preserve scenes, characters, dialogue, parentheticals, action, and scene numbers. NarrativeForge builds a cast and performance map without altering the source file.

Read modes

Cold, rehearsed, or directed.

A Cold Read favors speed and discovery. A Rehearsed Read uses established character and relationship choices. A Directed Read applies detailed performance notes, timing, retakes, and selected interpretations across the scene.

  • Pure Table Read: dialogue only
  • Traditional Read: selected action read by a script reader
  • Produced Read: subtle spatial and environmental treatment

Scene intelligence

Performance choices emerge from dramatic context.

Objectives, conflict, power shifts, reveals, reversals, entrances, exits, and unspoken reactions can inform delivery. This analysis exists to support listening and direction, never to claim authorship over the scene.

Retakes

Repair the beat, not the entire recording.

Select the moment that misses, preserve the surrounding cast and timing, and ask for another interpretation. Compare controlled, intimate, volatile, comic, suspenseful, or naturalistic takes before choosing what belongs in the production memory.

Revision

Hear the next draft without rebuilding the room.

When dialogue changes, the intended revision workflow identifies affected lines and scenes while retaining casting, pronunciation, and director notes. The result is a table read that can evolve at the same speed as the screenplay.

Frequently asked questions

What to know before joining the read.

It serves a different moment. NarrativeForge is intended for rapid iteration, private exploration, rehearsal, and preparation. A live cast remains uniquely valuable for human discovery, collaboration, and production decisions.
