Final Draft workflow
Write in Final Draft. Keep the performance alive beside it.
NarrativeForge is designed to read the production structure inside an FDX screenplay, build a cast and performance map, then reconcile later drafts without touching the original file.
FDX import and revision workflow in development
Import
Preserve the screenplay as a screenplay.
Scenes, scene numbers, characters, dialogue, parentheticals, action, and production structure are intended to remain recognizable. NarrativeForge creates a linked performance project while leaving the FDX source untouched.
Live Link vision
Watch the draft, find the change, protect the decisions.
The planned Live Link workflow watches an authorized source file, identifies added or changed material, and marks only affected performances for a new take. Casting, pronunciation, and director notes remain attached to unchanged material.
Draft updated. Three dialogue lines changed, one scene added, and one performance requires a new take.
Revision discipline
Compare what changed in the writing and in the sound.
Revision summaries are designed to distinguish textual changes from performance changes, making it easier to understand whether a new line solves the scene or simply moves the problem.

What to know before joining the read.
The intended workflow keeps the original FDX untouched and stores performance decisions in a separate NarrativeForge project.
Projects exported through standard FDX or Fountain formats are part of the planned compatibility path; exact fidelity will be documented as integrations mature.
