Import and integrations
Bring the work in without flattening what makes it a script.
NarrativeForge is designed to recognize narrative structure rather than treating every file as a paragraph dump. Each format receives an explicit fidelity level, import report, and revision strategy.
Compatibility matrix evolves with the private beta
Structured screenplay formats
FDX and Fountain carry the richest production structure.
These formats are the primary path for scenes, characters, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions, and revision-aware matching. Fade In, WriterDuet, and Highland can participate through their standard export formats where compatible.
Document formats
PDF, DOCX, RTF, and TXT require visible interpretation.
NarrativeForge is designed to report what it recognized, show uncertain character or scene boundaries, and allow correction before a cast or production is generated.
Books
EPUB and manuscript imports emphasize chapters, narration, and dialogue.
Book workflows prioritize chapter order, heading structure, narrator continuity, character references, pronunciation, and long-form update matching.
Source integrity
The original file remains the source of authorship.
NarrativeForge stores a linked performance project, import provenance, and revision map. It is not intended to overwrite the writer's original document.
