Your story, aloud
Make the voice belong to the story.
An audiobook begins with a stable manuscript and a few thoughtful decisions. Choose how the story should sound, test a representative passage and keep those choices consistent as you work through the book.
Choose a narration approach before recording a book.
Self-narration, a human performer and synthetic narration each call for a different workflow. Think about the audience, the project’s budget, the rights you have and the destination’s current acceptance requirements. Test a difficult passage before committing to the whole manuscript.
Keep a small production bible.
Record pronunciations, character distinctions, chapter boundaries and approved direction in one place. If a name or interpretation changes, that decision should be visible to everyone working on the next chapter. Our audiobook worksheet gives you a starting structure.
Listen against the text.
Review for missing words, repeated passages, accidental changes and inconsistent delivery. Then listen without the manuscript to check pace and comprehension. Keep the text revision log separate from the performance notes so you know which version each recording belongs to.
