NarrativeForge help · Project recovery
Protect what you have. Find what is missing.
Take careful first steps when a NarrativeForge project seems missing or out of date, without deleting local files or overwriting a recoverable version.
For Mac
- Check the original Mac and the location where the project was stored, including any external drive or synced folder.
- Keep backups and source imports intact. Tell support whether the project is absent from a list or the underlying file itself cannot be found.
A few checks to begin with
- Keep any open copy of the writing available. Record what you last saw and when you last successfully saved or opened it.
- Confirm the edition, device and account where the project was created. Do not assume that a local desktop project has synchronized to Cloud.
- Preserve available originals and backups before trying a recovery operation. Avoid clearing app data, uninstalling, deleting files or overwriting the only remaining copy.
If you still need a hand
These details help support understand the problem without asking for your creative work.
- The last edition/device where the project opened successfully
- Whether an open copy, original import or backup still exists
- What happened just before the project appeared missing or out of date
